+ I have tutored since age 12 but was terrified when I first began:
I failed sixth grade but my IQ Score qualified me for an accelerated academic track in a different school system, which enabled me to skip re-taking sixth grade and to move straight to seventh grade. Even though I had proof of my intelligence, I was absolutely terrified to move to seventh grade and to be moved on to such a competitive academic program. To mitigate my terror, my mother insisted that I “teach what I don’t understand” and in so doing, I excelled at school, ended up going to a US News and World Report Top 25 Schools-ranked university, and tutored to learn and to earn ever since.

+ My subjects of expertise: I started with tutoring Math in seventh grade, that was my spiciest subject, and from there branched out to all subjects, APs, IBs, and into graduated exams like the ACT, SAT, GRE, and GMAT. I tutored throughout high school and university.

+ My professional tutoring experience: Over the years, I ended up running my own tutoring agency and developing online courses—still selling those--for the four standardized exams mentioned earlier.

+ My Mission as a tutor: On top of my wealth of experience, I also believe that the greatest mission of the tutor is to help the student find their way to Self Reliance, so that they can help themselves in any subject and in the future. The way to Self Reliance is helping students to acknowledge their innate superpowers and showing them that they can lean in to them, regardless of the circumstances, because we are so perfectly suited to conquer any obstacle that life presents us—including at school.
This approach also beautifully lends itself to my students who are dealing with learning “stretches” like: ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (Asperger’s Syndrome), Dyslexia, and other learning differences. It is not by accident that so many accomplished creators grew up with disorders like these and ended up saving the world, in a variety of ways, because of their special way of seeing the world.
