Dr. Sam Uche Okoro, Esq. PhD, researched on International Trade and Global Economy, Energy Law and Climate Change Policy. With over 16 years’ experience lecturing varying law subjects at the University of Surrey, England and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Nigeria. I was the Technical Adviser on Research, Policy & Strategy to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC (-). Served as the Technical Consultant on Power to Nigerian Senate (-) Presently I am a Member/ Legal Lead of the Nigerian Presidential Taskforce on Power. Head of Energy & Climate Change Concerns at Gracias Licensed Legal Practitioners. Dr. Okoro has consulted for the World Bank African Energy Section, as well as having had inter-twining work stints at FERC USA, Washington DC PSC and Missouri PSC amongst others. He has been invited to technical working groups and paper presentations, and travelled in official capacity to over a 100 countries on energy related matters. He is published in journals, featured in an energy law book and have a Textbook on the way. The school of law and business will suit me properly, because of my field expertise. Teaching international trade law is also natural for me, given my LLM and general economic law background.
I started lecturing at the University of Surrey in 2007 where I was trained and certified in general teaching duties, so. I have attained copious experience in lecturing. On and off lecturing, I have been steadily involved in technical and professional law and economic fields, and have mentored plenty students. Lately, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where I have been lecturing and supervising LLB, LLM and MA students. . In an era where Artificial Intelligence (AI) tends to pose a new kind of challenge to the education industry, I am professionally primed and attuned for lecturing the new AI era, having worked in the power sector, where I am variously technically certified and work with SCADA and other latest data pooling and analytic software’s. I thus do embrace AI, and see opportunities for it to improve overall teaching and learning experience.
I have very proficient research capabilities, as I have had to conduct and deliver comprehensive high impact presidential briefings, continental researches and several emergency executive briefs. I am presently looking towards having a conducive academic institution research platform, from where the benefits of my relationship with the World Bank, AU, UN-FCCC and other international ins
