Advert description
I have tutoring experience in SATS, GCSEs and A-level maths. I achieved a grade 9 at GCSE and an A* at A-Level, which reflects a deep understanding of the maths curriculum. More importantly, my knowledge extends beyond the specification. I don't just know the content. I understand the underlying principles, which allows me to explain concepts in multiple ways and help students see the bigger picture.
I use a structured, diagnostic approach. First, I assess where each student is at by giving them a diagnostic test. This identifies which topics they've mastered and where they're struggling. If the fundamentals are shaky, I address those first. I believe this is critical because strong basics are the foundation for everything that follows. Without them, students struggle will struggle when it comes to the harder questions.
Once basics are solid, I move into targeted topic practice. I start by explaining the concept in my own way, breaking it down clearly. If that doesn't land, I immediately try alternative approaches until the student genuinely understands. I never move on until they're confident.
Next, I transition to exam-style questions on that topic. We work through questions until they've mastered it completely. Then we move to the next topic and repeat this process across the entire curriculum. This ensures consistent progress and genuine understanding rather than surface-level learning.
