Advert description
My approach to tutoring is to create a supportive, encouraging and engaging learning environment where every child feels comfortable asking questions, building confidence and reaching their full potential. I understand that every child learns differently, so I aim to adapt my teaching methods to suit each child’s individual needs, learning style and pace.
I offer tuition for primary school pupils, helping them strengthen their understanding of key subjects, including English and Maths. I can also support children preparing for their SATs, helping them become familiar with the types of questions they may encounter, practise important skills and develop effective exam techniques.
Before beginning lessons, I would aim to understand the child’s current abilities, areas of difficulty and learning goals. This allows me to identify which topics need the most attention and plan lessons that are relevant to their needs. Whether a child needs extra support with multiplication, fractions, spelling, reading comprehension, grammar or problem-solving, I want to help them develop a stronger understanding of the subject rather than simply memorising answers.
During lessons, I aim to explain concepts clearly and break down more challenging topics into smaller, manageable steps. I believe that children learn best when they have the opportunity to practise what they have learned, ask questions and receive guidance along the way. I would use practice questions, examples, revision activities and positive encouragement to make learning more enjoyable and effective.
For children preparing for SATs, I would focus on strengthening their knowledge of the primary school curriculum, practising SATs-style questions and helping them become more confident when working under timed conditions. I would also pay attention to common mistakes and revisit topics that need further improvement. My goal would be to help pupils feel prepared and capable, rather than overwhelmed by the pressure of exams.
Communication and patience are important parts of my approach. I understand that some children may need concepts explained more than once, and I would always aim to create a welcoming environment where they do not feel embarrassed about making mistakes. I see mistakes as an opportunity to learn, improve and develop resilience.
