Hello! My name is Mrs F! I am a neurodivergent teacher who is deeply passionate about helping other neurodivergent and SEN individuals not fly under the radar. I offer online tutoring sessions for GCSE Science on the AQA curriculum. About me: I use the name “your friendly neighbourhood teacher” as, since I have been a teacher, I have always been known as the friendly and kind teacher. I am endlessly patient and determined to support you however I am able. Even if you feel your teachers in school do not always understand you or your SEN needs, I will always try my very best to give you that safe place and understanding. Experience: I hold QTS and a PGCE in Secondary Teaching - with a specialism in GCSE biology (though I have taught equal amounts of Chemistry, Physics and Biology GCSE throughout my career). Prior to being a qualified science teacher, I was a teaching assistant for two years. I am used to working with the AQA exam board. I have worked with hundreds of students with ADHD, autism, SEMH (such as anxiety), dyslexia and more. This makes me well placed to support both your science KS3 and GCSE knowledge, as well as being mindful of SEN factors relevant to you. What are my lessons like?: All my lessons are online - so you can be in the comfort of your own home! This is your time and space to learn, and therefore completely personalised for you, but my strategy is a combination of knowledge recall, exam question analysis and practice. I am keen to make any reasonable adjustments necessary to support all students. For example, for students with dyslexia, I am happy to apply colour filters to the screens I use to cater for them or adjust my fonts. For a non-verbal child, they can type instead of speaking. I am experienced in helping year 11 students improve their grades for their GCSE exam using a combination of recall and exam practice - but each individual will have a slightly different strategy and way of working.
