Advert description
My name is Dr Jenny and I tutor in A-level Biology. I have been tutoring professionally since 2012, and since Covid most of my tuition has been online using software such as Google Meet. My first session with a new student will be half price.
During this time I have helped many students improve their grades, and with a background in Science and learning support, I am well qualified to assist students who are struggling because of inconsistent provision of Science teachers, to help high flying students gain entry to higher level courses, and those with learning difficulties too.
I have many resources for tutoring these subjects, including presentations, question packs, past papers, whiteboards and models (including a DNA model). I can also demonstrate some of the required practicals, such as the food tests. The exam boards I am most familiar with are AQA and OCR, and often the sessions will contain a mixture of course content and going over revision questions. However I will tailor the session to the student's requirements or preferences.
As a graduate in a Biological Science, and holding a PhD, I am experienced in many of the practical techniques needed for A-level Biology, such as microscopy as well as having suitable experience in immunology, cell and molecular biology which are covered thoroughly in the course. I also worked for a few years in further education, where I gained much experience with students whose learning difficulties included autism, ADHD and visual impairments.
I am reliable, flexible, enthusiastic and patient, and very keen to continue helping students achieve their maximum grades. Presently I live in Yorkshire, but tutor students far afield online. My interests include Science Fiction and Fantasy, 70s and 80s music, and knitting strange creatures.
If you would like more information, please contact me. I aim to respond promptly. Thanks for looking.
