Over the last year, Lisa and I have been working together on the drafting and submission of my Bachelor's thesis in Geology to an academic journal. Having never done this before, Lisa has been outstanding both to work with and as a mentor. Lisa was great. She helped me improve my scientific report writing and research skills, which made a real difference to my final year undergraduate dissertation mark. She also supported me in developing practical, employability skills—such as seeking quotes for a funding proposal budget. Her feedback was always clear, constructive, and encouraging, and she is always full of suggestions and ideas. Lisa was a constant source of inspiration with her ceaseless drive for science and learning during the time I worked with her at Teesside University. As a new member of staff in my first full time lectureship it was great to know that I could always count on Lisa for any advice or mentorship. Lisa is one of the best tutors and lecturers I’ve ever had. She doesn’t just teach for the sake of it, she genuinely loves what she does and wants her students to succeed.
