Online art and drawing tutor (Ages 8- 13)

Advert description
Hi! I’m an Art & Drawing Tutor for ages 8+ and I’m here to help students enjoy art, build confidence, and improve their skills along the way.

My own art journey properly started during COVID. I had always enjoyed drawing and had won a few competitions before, but I never really practised seriously until then. I started drawing things I actually liked, practising more often, and learning the fundamentals through YouTube and lots of experimenting. I’m completely self-taught and have never had formal art lessons, so I understand what it feels like to start from the basics and slowly improve.

After developing my skills, I went on to study GCSE Art and achieved a Grade 9. During GCSE, I pushed myself to try different styles, explore new ideas, and draw a wide variety of subjects.

When it comes to teaching, I believe the best way to learn art is by drawing things you actually enjoy. Whether that’s anime, characters, animals, cartoons, games, or anything else, I think students learn much better when they’re excited about what they’re creating. After all, nobody gets into art because they want to spend hours only drawing a vase of apples!

My lessons will be based around each student and what they want to learn. If they already have something they love drawing, we’ll use that as a starting point and build their skills from there. If they’re not sure where to begin, we’ll start with the basics, such as understanding shapes, proportions, and how to break down complicated things into simpler forms.

A big part of my lessons will be learning how to see shapes and use them to build drawings step by step. We’ll work on things like characters, objects, shading, colouring, and adding details while helping students develop their own style.

I also want art to be something students can use to create meaningful things. Around occasions like birthdays, Mother’s Day, or Christmas, we can make personalised drawings, cards, or creative gifts they can be proud to share.

After each lesson, I’ll give a small practice task because the biggest thing that helped me improve was simply drawing more. My goal is to make lessons relaxed, fun, and encouraging, so students feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and enjoying the process of creating art.
