What to Expect from Our Lessons at Giggle and Grow Learning
At Giggle and Grow Learning, every lesson is designed to be engaging, structured, and tailored to each child’s unique needs. I understand that no two learners are the same, so I take a personalised approach that balances academic focus with a warm, supportive atmosphere—so children not only improve, but also enjoy the process of learning.
Lesson Format
Each session typically follows a clear structure to provide consistency and purpose:
Welcome & Warm-Up (5 minutes) – A short brain teaser, word game, or math warm-up to ease into the session and activate prior knowledge.
Focused Learning (20–30 minutes) – Based on the child’s specific goals, whether it's phonics, reading comprehension, spelling, numeracy, or problem-solving. This includes direct instruction, practice activities, and use of visual aids or interactive tools.
Skill Application (10–15 minutes) – Activities where students apply what they’ve learned through games, mini-assessments, or real-world tasks to strengthen understanding.
Review & Positive Reflection (5 minutes) – A brief recap, encouragement, and goal-setting for next time to build self-awareness and confidence.
Lessons are available online or in-person, depending on location and family preference.
Content & Curriculum
Lessons are fully aligned with the UK National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2.
I support core areas including:
Phonics & Early Reading
Spelling, Grammar, and Writing
Maths Mastery (Place Value, Arithmetic, Problem-Solving)
Reading Comprehension
SATs preparation and homework support
Materials are adapted to match the child’s level, and I frequently incorporate visuals, manipulatives, storytelling, educational games, and digital tools to maintain interest and cater to various learning styles.
Experience & Teaching Style
With a degree in Primary Initial Education and experience working in three diverse schools, I have taught pupils with a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and learning needs. I am DBS-checked and trained in classroom and one-to-one support, including children with SEND and EAL.
My teaching style is encouraging, patient, and proactive. I build strong relationships with my students, making them feel safe to ask questions, take risks, and celebrate their progress. Whether a child needs to catch up, keep up, or get ahead, I help them do so with structure, encouragement, and a good dose of giggles!
