Advert description
Hello! My name is Claudia Zavala, and I am originally from Houston, Texas. I am a proud Houston Posse Foundation Scholar, and a Growth and Structure of Cities Major from Bryn Mawr College.
Through my liberal arts courses, I quickly discovered my passion for cultural and economic development. I became fascinated with learning about different city planning projects, and their impact on empowering under-resourced communities. Drawn to financial literacy and community development, I first joined Goldman Sachs in 2020 as a financial analyst. Although I gained holistic and analytical skills from this position, I also discovered that I wanted to feel more connected to my community, and pursue my passion for teaching.
During my time at Goldman Sachs, I also gained extensive communication and project skills as I learned to build presentations and projects based on what each individual client needed for their unique portofolio. I understand that as a teacher my job is to properly determine what each student needs to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom. Through my holistic and charismatic personality, I truly believe I can excel as a tutor by not only discovering the strengths, interests, and aspirations of each student, but also structuring the class material accordingly.
Attending a liberal arts college allowed me to gain a strong foundation in applicational research methods as I wrote countless research papers in Spanish through my City Planning, History, and Latin American studies courses. As a teacher, I look forward to applying these research skills and building the best classroom practices.
Currently as a Spanish teacher for YES Prep Northwest, I have learned effective leadership skills and classroom management with my Spanish I, II, and III courses. As a founding Spanish teacher, I was able to build the first Spanish department at my school, and develop a strong foundation for the Spanish language. I would love to help you as your tutor and would tailor learning the language to your interests.
