Advert description
I self-studied Further Maths as a private candidate on my gap year working full time until March, I also sat the STEP II and III admissions tests. I had a tutor who never handed me the answers, but instead guided me into finding them myself, and I teach the same way. The principle is desirable difficulty: you remember what you’ve had to work out for yourself far better than what you’ve been shown.
Lessons start by laying the theoretical foundation on whichever topics you’re shakiest on, then shift to me refereeing while you solve problems yourself. I’ll flag where the reasoning breaks down and ask the question that gets you moving again, but the working stays yours. In an exam you’re on your own, so solving problems unaided is what I’m training you for.
I cover GCSE, A-Level Maths and Further maths.
