Advert description
Committed to igniting a joy in learning, inspiring and empowering students to leverage their energies and gifts towards something bigger than themselves.
History holds the secrets of who we are. It is where the past intersects with us now. Someone said: ‘the past is a foreign country; they do things differently there’. As Time Lords, we go back, we watch and listen to the people who walked the earth as we do now. What we discover can light our way into the future.
My aim is to inspire and nurture a wonder for learning, creating experiential activities with meaningful outcomes. My practice is to launch enquiries with a source-rich immersion experience - literary excerpts, music, paintings, film - giving a ‘taste’ of the time and place, igniting imagination and curiosity.
Until June working at d’Overbroeck’s Oxford, I have been a teacher since 1989 and have worked in several schools - British Isles, Spain, Peru, USA, Italy and Kenya. I have taught English, Religious Studies and Geography at Key Stage 3. My specialism is History, KS3, (I)GCSE, IB MYP + Diploma. I am also an examiner (A-level, GCSE). I have experience teaching online both to groups and individuals.
I will be teaching you, not just a subject - listening carefully to your ideas and your questions, your silence. Each of us has tremendous capacity for learning but not in the same way.
