I have been teaching at secondary and university level for over 30 years, my secondary school experience ranges from state schools to grammar to prestigious independent. I am an Edexcel GCE examiner, have been widely published in modern foreign language education, exile and theatre studies and hold upper threshold status, a masters and a first class degree. I am bi-lingual in English and German. I was born and educated in London but my parents came from East Germany. Having worked in the theatre before I became a teacher I am particularly passionate about German literature and German writers of the 19th and 20th century such as : Schlink, Frisch , Kafka, Duerrenmatt, Brecht and Buechner. I am fluent in French having lived and worked in Switzerland and France. I completed part of my degree at Toulouse University and in Paris trained as a Berlitz EFL teacher.
Friendly, professional and dedicated I prefer to nurture long working relationships with tutees and their parents over a year or more. The majority of my tutees are siblings and GCSE and 'A' LeveI students but I am happy to teach all ages and abilities. At present my youngest tutee is 8 and preparing for 11 plus exams and my oldest is 90 and enjoys learning French and German with me!
