Advert description
My name is Alex, and for the last 9 years I have learnt my trade as a science teacher in London. During this time I have worked in a range of schools and held a number of positions from 2iC, to head of enrichment to Head of Biology. I have had consistency with the results I have achieved from my students at all levels throughout my career in schools. Alongside my in class roles I have also picked up tutoring at both GCSE and A-level, both helping a few friends' children and formally through tutoring agencies.
During this time, I have noticed how many students have not had the benefit of the excellent education I received at school or/ are also not sure how best to revise for their exams or may lack the confidence to achieve to the level they are capable of. It is these students who I have found most rewarding to tutor and have made the most progress while working with me. I feel it is a great shame that schools cannot always deliver the best to all students all of the time, and sadly that is the nature of the current system. However I also believe that anyone is capable of doing well in their qualifications with the right plan and support.
I have had success stories in the recent exam season with one student gaining 4 grades on their predicted science grades (from a 4-4 to a 6-6) in just over 6 months of weekly online sessions. I used a targeted approach using my knowledge alongside the students needs to ensure the best outcomes for them. Breaking down difficult content and schemes of work into manageable chunks so that the student can see where they're going is something at the root of what I practise, as well as getting that independent growth mindset ingrained.
I have worked with a wide range of students including SEN, low ability and high ability students at GCSE and A-level. The student's needs lie at the centre of my approach, with my teaching be adaptable to the individuals needs.
I look forward to working with you!
