Patient, energetic Computer Science graduate teaching curious beginners through confident A-Level students.

Advert description
In my opinion, the best method of teaching Computer Science would involve taking the approach of making a student think about problem-solving in practical terms, as opposed to abstract reasoning. I will begin the process of tutoring by assessing the knowledge level a student has attained based on the course material. This is because learning that is based on unstable ground does not stick, irrespective of how thoroughly subsequent concepts will be explained. Next, I will break down concepts into practical pieces of advice, employing real examples and analogies as a means of explaining things prior to technical definitions, making sure that "why" will come first and only then "how". Mentoring juniors on app development back at university taught me the importance of patience – sometimes it takes several explanations for an idea to become clear, and it is completely fine. Lessons must remain interactive rather than one-sided; posing questions, encouraging students to try things out, and correcting wrong views while it is still possible, rather than accumulating misunderstandings to resolve them later. Finally, every time a student leaves the session, he or she will have something to practice. The most important thing here is to encourage students to ask even seemingly silly questions, since in Computer Science there is no place for shame.
