Awadhi Shemliwa

I am a Computer Science graduate with a strong interest in programming, problem-solving, data science and technology. My goal as a tutor is to make technical subjects easier to understand by breaking down complex concepts into smaller, practical and manageable steps.

I believe that learning programming is not just about memorising syntax or copying code. It is about understanding how things work, developing logical thinking and learning how to approach problems independently. This is the teaching philosophy I intend to bring to every lesson.

My teaching approach

I aim to create an interactive and student-centred learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and exploring different solutions. I will first assess the student's current understanding and identify areas that need improvement before developing a learning approach suited to their pace and goals.

My lessons will combine:

- Conceptual explanations: Breaking down difficult topics using simple language, relatable examples and step-by-step demonstrations.
- Practical exercises: Applying theoretical knowledge through coding exercises, small projects and real-world examples.
- Problem-solving: Using platforms such as LeetCode to introduce programming challenges, improve logical reasoning and develop algorithmic thinking progressively.
- Progress assessment: Reviewing previous topics, identifying knowledge gaps and gradually increasing the difficulty of exercises.
- Independent thinking: Encouraging students to attempt problems themselves before introducing solutions, helping them develop confidence and independence.

My background and interests

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and have also completed the DataCamp Associate Data Scientist certification. My technical interests include Python programming, databases, data analysis, statistics, algorithms and software development.

I am particularly interested in helping beginners build a strong foundation in computing and programming, as well as supporting students who want to improve their practical coding skills.

What students can expect

My priority is not simply to help students complete their assignments, but to ensure they understand the reasoning behind what they are learning. I want every student to leave a lesson with something they can explain, apply and build upon independently.
