English tutor with experience ranging from primary school to university level education

Firstly, my name is Dionne and thank you for taking an interest in my work!

I have an LLB (Hons) degree with First Class Honours from GCU, as well as an LLM (Medical Law and Ethics) with Distinction from The University of Edinburgh. At present, I'm undertaking my PhD in law back at GCU, with a focus on dispute resolution in paediatric care disputes. Studying law demands a significant level of understanding in English - as reflected by it being considered a key subject to study for entry into an LLB degree. I studied English myself at Nat 5 and Higher Level in high school, achieving an A at both levels.

However, the skills you learn throughout school are a vital part of any degree moving forward. Being able to structure sentences properly, utilise effective word choice, write essays, or even analyse texts are all essential to students' success. Having been a lecturer in college and university programmes, I aim to make my lessons informative, effective, but most importantly, fun! Learning can often be a daunting experience for students at any level, and to me, it is important to acknowledge that the enjoyment of a subject is reflected within the final result of assessment or exams.

In my lessons, you will get to put your skills into practice through a variety of tasks - whether this relates to reading, writing, or listening. I often use active learning strategies to keep us on track and focused, and it means you can participate in lessons rather than sitting in silence.
