English to primary children London A* in English literature and a B in English language at gcse level

I was elected as student ambassador from year 3 up to the end of secondary school and promoted to deputy student principle in sixth form. By embedding that leadership role into my lifestyle, I can be able to become more confident in myself and aid others to feel confident and comfortable around me through guiding them, advising them and representing them as their elected voice. I truly believe the skill of leadership will significantly enhance my skills with working with young children as I can be able to structure lessons, teach and advice them gently on how to improve, this would be due to my ability to empathise with others during challenges they face. I want to create a space where they feel comfortable, relaxed but also focused, I believe the best way to do that is to slowly get to know the student, their interests, their hobbies, clubs etc. to be able to work around their schedule because you had to make time for the activities you love but also prioritise education even if it’s from early ages as it builds incredible and unbreakable habits that are already threaded into your brain since adolescence. By having a professional relationship with your student you are able to allow them to ask questions, express themselves and create an environment where they feel confident they can make mistakes and learning from them too. Adding onto my experience, I am also a literacy mentor for year 8 students. This means that every week I spent 20 minutes with my mentee, they chose a book of their liking and read for that space of time and I write things that they did well, things they should improve on and thing they did better than last time. Due to this, they can start having a more positive attitude towards learning and reading which I believe is critical at such a young and influential age. By adapting amazing habits such as reading into your day to day life, it will, undoubtedly, improve your test scores. Therefore, I will bring my passion and love for English to each lesson and that is how I teach. I will teach from the heart.
