Retired lecturer offers Maths tuition up to AH level

Advert description
I offer tuition in Maths from Primary up to Advanced Higher level. The rate per hour lesson is £40.

Skype would appear to be the new norm, and I have been doing lessons this way for many years. It works well, although I am happy to see pupils at my house.

Now retired, I have the time to be able to offer tuition at any time during the day or evening, including weekends. Most of my work now comes through personal recommendations as my pupils regularly score well in their exams, and, as a tutor, it is by far the best advert for my work that I could hope for.

I hold a full PVG Disclosure certificate and attended Edinburgh University in the 70s, doing a BSc in Maths and Economics.

As I am often tutoring it may be easier to email in the first instance as my phone will be silenced during lessons.

Tutoring Approach

I have a deep and clear understanding of the new syllabus and can confidently work through any problems you may have with it.

I would normally ask pupils to show work they have recently completed at school. I would also ask if there were any particular topics that he/she would like us to work on. This normally gives us a good starting point.

I like to get to know my pupils' hobbies, interests and aspirations for the future. Knowing this often helps me to make my teaching more relevant. We can try to work on examples set in a context where the pupil is confident and familiar.

I will always have work prepared for each session however the topic or example on which the pupil would like to work will always take priority. I feel it is important that the pupil leaves a session feeling that any particular difficulty has been resolved.

During each session I will also try to revise previous work. Any difficulties encountered during this revision exercise may provi
