Physics graduate and philosophy PhD tutoring maths, science and reasoning at all levels.

I hold a BSc in Physics and am completing a PhD in philosophy at the University of Edinburgh, where I have spent five years teaching and mentoring students one to one. I have delivered over 150 individual sessions to students from nineteen different countries, across a wide range of levels and backgrounds, including students with additional support needs such as ASD. My approach is diagnostic first — I find where understanding breaks down before I start explaining, because the right explanation depends entirely on where the student actually is, not where the textbook assumes they are. I work patiently and without judgment, adjusting my language and method until something clicks. I am equally comfortable working through foundational concepts with a student who has lost confidence in maths, or tackling more demanding material with someone preparing for exams or university entry. My scientific background means I can connect mathematical ideas to real problems in physics and other disciplines, which helps students see why the material matters.
