Maths undergraduate offering high quality tutoring for 13-18 year olds

Hello, my name is Arhan Luthra and I am a maths tutor about to enter my third year of a Philosophy and Mathematics degree at the University of Edinburgh.

I am 21 years old and have spent the last 4 years tutoring maths to children of various ages. In this time I have helped my students to develop their abilities and confidence across a wide range of mathematical topics.

I have a passion for maths and helping young people with maths is something I deeply enjoy. Past students and parents have commended me for my firm and effective approach to teaching which aims to identify and improve students weak points, whilst still maintaining a friendly and relaxed environment. Growing up in London, I achieved A* and 9s in A level and GCSE maths respectively and know exactly what it takes to excel in exams. I aim however to not only prepare my students for exams, but to also develop their mathematical thinking to give them a deeper understanding of the content.

I live in Edinburgh during term time so can provide in person lessons to any Edinburgh residents. Also very comfortable teaching online and will provide a document camera for online lessons if needed.

I am comfortable with teaching any age, specialising in Nat 5s or Higher's.

Education and experience:

A Levels:

4 A* in Maths, Chemistry, Physics and EPQ.

GCSE:

9 9's, 2 8's including 9s in Maths and Further Maths.

I offer a range of different tutoring styles tailored to individual needs. This could be simply going over school work and homework with a student and to ensure that they fully understand what they're learning at school, or more in depth past paper questions and exam technique so that the student is as ready as they can be for their exams. I am friendly and reliable. Whatever the students needs, I will cater my teaching to get the most out of my lessons 🙂

My rate is £35 an hour, however I don't want my teaching to be limited to only those who can afford it, so will be offering cheaper lessons at £20 an hour for those who need it.

I am also fully DBS checked and have experience working as a teaching assistant in schools.
