Friendly piano lessons for beginners, intermediate players and adult returners taught by qualified music teacher with 10+ years teaching experience

I'm friendly, encouraging and knowledgeable, with over ten years of teaching experience to help me fine-tune lessons to individual students. My aim is for you to come away from each lesson feeling motivated and confident. I have taught at a music conservatoire, a university, at schools, as well as privately.

I have a teaching degree, a Master in Musicology: Communication and Education, and a Bachelor and PgDip in Composition. I'm also finishing a PhD in Composition. As a composer, I've written for Dutch National Opera, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, RSNO, BBC NOW, Concertgebouworkest Young, and LPO.

I teach piano from my home studio in Gilmerton, offering a calm and friendly space where you can build skills and confidence. Lessons are shaped around your interests and goals so learning stays clear and enjoyable.

Lessons are focused around exploring music in any style you enjoy, building technique and music reading skills in order to play with confidence, and expressing yourself through creative improvisation.
