Experienced primary teacher offering tailored tuition for Maths, English & the 11+ Examination

Advert description
Are you looking for high-quality, personalised tuition in Primary Maths, English, and 11+ Examination preparation for your child? With extensive teaching experience both in the United Kingdom and in China, I offer a unique and well-rounded approach that blends proven methods, cultural awareness, and a deep understanding of how children learn best.
I am a fully qualified and highly experienced primary school teacher, having taught children across Key Stage 1 (ages 5–7) and Key Stage 2 (ages 7–11) in both international and UK settings. This wide-ranging experience means I can adapt lessons to suit different learning styles, academic levels, and backgrounds. Whether your child is beginning their learning journey in Key Stage 1, needs support to build confidence in Key Stage 2, or is preparing for the 11+ Examination, I provide structured, engaging, and effective tuition tailored to their needs.
During my time teaching in the UK, I gained first-hand expertise in the National Curriculum, ensuring that my lessons closely follow the standards expected in schools. This allows me to support children in developing core skills in Mathematics and English, while achieving strong results in their classroom assessments and SATs. My teaching style is both supportive and challenging, helping children push beyond their comfort zones while also ensuring they feel confident and motivated.
A key feature of my practice is my use of the Teaching for Mastery approach, particularly in mathematics. This method emphasises depth of understanding over speed, encouraging children to fully grasp concepts before moving on. By carefully sequencing lessons, using small steps, and exploring multiple representations, I ensure that children not only know how to solve problems, but also understand why methods work. This builds long-term confidence, resilience, and flexibility in problem-solving—essential skills for success in both the classroom and the 11+ Examination.
My experience teaching in China also enriched my practice as a tutor. Working with children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds required me to develop highly adaptable and creative teaching strategies. This sharpened my ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms and to design lessons that spark curiosity and enjoyment. It also gave me a global perspective on education, which I now bring into my tuition sessions
