I work best as a gcse teacher seeing as I have done an A-level in furthermaths and maths. I may make fun however it will help.

I have run clubs designed to teach maths as a substitute for horrible teachers and my teaching style is very hands on, we will work through examples together and both suggest ideas, you will be set tests on knowledge to work through with the assistance of notes or my help. And as long as you put in the work you will improve. No homework though because I too forget to hand it in often.
