Bespoke Language Tutoring (French & English)

Hello!

My name is Annabelle and I offer affordable, bespoke, online tutoring in French and English to students of all backgrounds.

I am a recent graduate from the University of Bath in Modern Languages and European Studies (German and ab initio Italian). I grew up bilingual as a French and English native speaker and I have always had an affinity for all things linguistics. I have over 10 years of experience in teaching and academia, having taught all ages and all levels in both English and French.

My language teaching approach is based on a personal philosophy of mine that language is a communication tool that can open you up to a whole new world. Acquiring the language itself is not the end goal, it is what it allows us to do. Therefore, when teaching, I focus on improving my student’s confidence in communicating ideas and developing a better understanding of the culture and context that comes with the language at hand. It is much easier to learn a language when our imagination has been captured by all that it brings with it.

That being said, I understand that often, students are under certain academic pressures and so, I make sure that my sessions always bear in mind any upcoming assessments and their criteria. My own academic successes have shown me that it is possible to take grades seriously while also enjoying the subject.
