Advert description
I have taught at explore learning before, I have had various experiences with different ages and different learning needs, for example I had to tackle the learning needs of a student with autism, I began the lesson by testing his level of understanding and how he tackles certain mathematical problems. Once I have identified weakness and gaps in the student’s knowledge I try and test different methods of teaching such as writing down the working out and explaining my reasoning through each step, or making the student write it out themselves and helping them as they make a mistake, the method which is the most helpful to the student and helps them understand the problems best I begin implementing it with different maths questions. I find it helpful to reward students when they get questions correctly as this motivates them to want to get more questions correctly. For different students a method of active learning is more effective, active learning involves me not giving any answers away, but simply letting the student figuring it out themselves and questioning why they have used certain methods in their working out if it is incorrect, this helps them think and keeps them engaged and motivated when answering the question.
