Advert description
I am currently a third-year medical student. Prior to the commencement of my course, I have studied in South Africa and Ireland and therefore, I experienced learning in many diverse environments. This has allowed me to understand the different learning types and requirements of tutees. Due to my demanding course, I have learnt valuable study skills such as spaced repetition which I facilitate into my teaching methodology in content-heavy subjects such as Biology and Chemistry.
With three years of tutoring experience, I have successfully guided numerous A-level students to not only enhance their understanding of subject matter but also master their exam techniques. My approach goes beyond teaching knowledge; it involves instilling confidence in students when it comes to exam technique and academic writing.
Each tutoring session is tailored to the unique learning requirements of the individual. As a standard practise, I initiate each lesson with a review of previously covered material, ensuring my students get repeated exposure to key concepts. Next, we delve into in-depth teaching and concept comprehension. To help with exam technique, a substantial portion of the session, exceeding 20 minutes, is dedicated to rigorous practice with exam questions directly from past papers.
In addition to maintaining a professional and structured approach, I pride myself on cultivating a kind and supportive learning environment. This personalised touch extends to the provision of supplementary homework assignments and detailed notes, ensuring that students have valuable resources beyond the tutoring sessions to further solidify their understanding.
