Experienced Geography Tutor – Building Understanding, Confidence & Results
I’m a friendly, highly experienced geography teacher with a real passion for helping young people make sense of the world. I specialise in breaking down GCSE Geography into clear, manageable chunks and teaching the essential skills students need to achieve high grades.
I don’t expect students to memorise textbooks word-for-word — that’s not how learning works. Textbooks are tools, not scripts. What truly matters is helping students:
• understand the key concepts
• explain ideas in their own words
• connect topics together
• apply knowledge to unfamiliar situations
• think like geographers, not repeaters
This is exactly what exam questions — and real life — demand.
My approach leads to deeper, longer-lasting learning. When students genuinely understand the subject, they remember more, feel more confident, and perform better in exams. There’s no panic about forgetting perfect wording, because they actually know what they’re talking about.
I have a proven track record of supporting all learners, including those with ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, or low confidence. With patient guidance, I help students develop strong skills, fill knowledge gaps quickly, and build the belief that they can succeed.
I hold a First Class degree from University College London and currently teach in a comprehensive school in the centre of Colchester. As a mum of four teenagers, I understand the pressures students face and the importance of calm, supportive, personalised teaching.
I firmly believe that every student is capable of achieving at least a grade 6 — often much higher — with the right support, clear instruction, and effective exam-technique coaching. Geography doesn’t need to be memorised; it needs to be understood. Most of my students even end up enjoying their exams!
