Native English teacher with an MA, a CELTA and 8 years experience

I am an experienced, qualified and versatile English teacher, with a Master’s Degree in TESOL and a CELTA. I am a native English speaker with a very neutral and easy to comprehend accent. I am self-motivated, friendly and energetic. Since 2014, I have worked for a variety of schools in different countries and I have a plethora of experience in many different areas of English language teaching, including Exam Preparation, General English, Business English, EAP and Military English, in both private and group classes. I have worked for many institutions, including Language Schools, High Schools and Universities. I have been fortunate to experience numerous cultural settings including Latin America and the Middle East. I am always punctual, professional and prepared in all aspects of my work.

My teaching philosophy is communicative and I prefer my classes to be meaning-focused, in order to allow students to learn through communication. I am just as comfortable teaching in a more direct and systematic manner and teaching towards examinations. I work hard to make classes engaging, effective and dynamic, by producing my own lesson plans. I am equally confident teaching from a course book or creating and adapting my own materials. I have a student-centric approach to language teaching, which involves creating a positive and relaxed atmosphere in the class, to encourage students to participate more. Educate comes from the Latin ‘educe’, which means ‘to lead’. I try to be a leader in the class, not a dictator. A leader who brings the students with me as we try to reach our common goals. This is done through hard work and mutual respect.
