In every session, I take time to understand the needs, feelings and circumstances of my student in every session. Usually a student would guide me towards where they need help in, and I would refine the learning experience for them. With this I am able to identify areas demanding of focus in future sessions and teach them active learning study approaches. This is something they can implement when they study independently. My goal is to empower students to take ownership and autonomy with their studies.
My experience entails working in a tutoring centre for KS2 to GCSE students for a few months. I later built up private clients and taught them using their personal textbooks, past papers as well as complementary internet sources. After witnessing too many disappointment students aimlessly wanting top grades, I realised that my tutoring should be complement career, personal and life development. With this attitude, one can have a healthier perspective in achieving top grades more in line with a career and life aspirations that better suit my students.
Overall, I will teach students how to study in a smarter way according to their life needs. They will manifest a calm, grounded and mindful attitude towards assessments.
