Advert description
Hello! I’m a private English Literature tutor offering personalised lessons for GCSE and A-Level students across all exam boards.
As a recent high school graduate, I have an up-to-date understanding of current GCSE and A-Level requirements, exam techniques and the pressures students can face. I also have experience tutoring both my peers and younger students in my local community, helping them improve their academic writing, deepen their understanding of literary texts and become more confident in expressing their ideas.
Every student approaches literature differently, so I tailor each lesson to the individual’s ability, learning style and goals. At the beginning, we will identify the student’s strengths, areas for improvement and the texts or skills they would most like to work on. I will then create focused lessons that support their progress.
Sessions may include close analysis of poetry, prose and drama; exploring themes, characters and context; selecting and analysing quotations; planning essays; and developing clear, convincing arguments. I can also help students improve their essay structure, use of evidence, academic vocabulary and ability to write thoughtfully under timed conditions.
Lessons can be interactive, using PowerPoint presentations, discussions, quizzes and guided analysis. Students who prefer a more structured academic approach can focus on past-paper questions, timed essays and detailed feedback explaining exactly what they have done well and how they can improve.
My aim is to make English Literature feel interesting and approachable while maintaining a strong academic focus. I want students to feel comfortable discussing their interpretations, asking questions and learning from mistakes. Whether a student needs help understanding a difficult text, improving essay technique, preparing for an examination or working towards the highest grades, I provide patient, encouraging and carefully tailored support.
