I have extensive experience teaching Mandarin Chinese to learners of different ages and levels in the UK. Since 2025, I have worked as a freelance Mandarin teacher, supporting students with language development, examination preparation and speaking practice. I previously worked as a Chinese language teacher at Cardiff University’s Confucius Institute, where I taught Mandarin to school and university learners, prepared students for HSK examinations, and supported a range of Chinese language and cultural activities. I also have experience working with GCSE-level Chinese learners and supporting students in achieving strong examination results. In addition to teaching, I have substantial experience in Chinese-English interpreting and bilingual communication, including educational events, university activities and cultural exchange programmes. I hold an International Chinese Language Teacher Qualification Certificate and a Japanese senior high school teaching qualification. I have also recently taken the CIOL Diploma in Translation (DipTrans) examination, with the result expected in September 2026. These experiences have given me a strong understanding of language accuracy, assessment standards, learner performance and the importance of consistent and fair evaluation.
