Advert description
As indicated in the previous question, my maths and physics knowledge sharing is based on 30 years of business, project and technical management roles in engineering industries. I use a number of online tools to aid online teaching including Mathigon and IXL. I also use syllabus resources (primarily WJEC in Wales). I am equipped with a graphics pad and touchscreen screen computer to assist with the interactivity of the online tutoring.

I am offering Online and In-person maths and physics tutoring from my home near Brecon.

I have been tutoring for 14 years, initially in a part time capacity. My first tutoring role was helping our own children through their GCSEs! This extended to assisting children of our friends' with their maths, physics or chemistry at GCSE and A level.
When I was a young student, like many, I experienced maths anxiety. A fear of the subject. This was until I joined a class with a teacher who taught by relating maths to typical day to day real life problems. Maths suddenly started to make more sense and I began to enjoy the subject. He was quite an inspiration.
I studied Mechanical Engineering at University which is a very maths intensive subject. In engineering, maths is a tool that helps us solve actual real life problems. The relevance of maths to the World around me became so much more apparent.

My working life has been quite rounded and includes working in academia, several engineering environments, child care, hospitality and the voluntary sector.
I have always enjoyed sharing knowledge. That is why I spent my first years after degree graduation lecturing in University. It is also why, during my career, I have been actively involved in training others and in recent years, why I started tutoring students.

With experience comes knowledge and I look forward to sharing my knowledge with you. My philosophy is as follows:

~ Make maths approachable by building a strong foundation of the basic principles therefore reducing maths anxiety.
~Make maths relevant by applying these principles to everyday life situations.
~Make maths fun by playing maths games, using visual aids, being hands-on and also using modern interactive technology.
~Make maths useful by showing how maths can be used as a life skill for general problem solving.

Our aim is to make maths relevant, make maths fun and make maths easy……
