Advert description
My approach to teaching Maths is built around making sure a student understands the reasoning behind a method, not just memorising steps. I achieved an A* in Maths at A-Level and went on to use advanced quantitative techniques throughout my Economics degree at the University of Warwick, so I have a strong, up-to-date grasp of the subject from GCSE through to A-Level standard.
I start each lesson by identifying exactly where a student is struggling, whether that's a specific topic, exam technique, or general confidence with numbers, and build the session around that. I use plenty of worked examples, then move on to practice questions so the student applies what they've just learned rather than just watching me solve problems. I'm patient and encourage questions, since I find students learn fastest when they feel comfortable admitting what they don't understand.
I also tailor my pace and explanations to how each individual learns best, breaking complex problems into smaller, manageable steps. My goal isn't just to help a student get through their next test, but to build a genuine, lasting understanding of Maths that gives them confidence going forward.
I have also previously tutored Maths and Chemistry up to GCSE level and left my students improving their grade and understanding more about the subject.
