Advert description
I am an experienced tutor, lecturer and trainer with a PhD in Astrophysics and a strong background in Physics, Mathematics, Science and Computing. Over the course of my career I have taught and supported learners from school age to undergraduate and adult level through one-to-one tutoring, classroom teaching, lecturing, mentoring and specialist training.
My main tutoring subjects are Physics and Mathematics, particularly at GCSE and A-level, and I enjoy helping students build both understanding and confidence. I know that these subjects can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I aim to make lessons calm, clear and encouraging, breaking difficult ideas down into manageable steps and adapting my approach to the individual student. I can support students who need to strengthen fundamentals and rebuild confidence, as well as high-attaining students aiming for top grades.
My teaching experience includes further and higher education lecturing, one-to-one support, academic mentoring and tailored training for learners with different needs and backgrounds. Alongside my teaching work, I have also spent many years in scientific research and software engineering, which has given me a strong practical grounding in analytical thinking, problem-solving and clear communication.
I believe good tutoring is not only about covering a syllabus, but also helping students understand how to think, approach problems with confidence and make steady progress. Whether the goal is exam preparation, revision support, improving confidence or tackling a difficult topic in more depth, I aim to make sessions focused, supportive and genuinely useful.
