Calling all Functional Skills Maths Students

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS MATHS TUTOR GREATER MANCHESTER

I am a Maths tutor based in Bury, Greater Manchester, specialising in Functional Skills Maths (Entry Level to Level 2) and Foundation GCSE Maths. I support adult learners, ESOL students, and 16–19 learners, helping them build confidence, close gaps in understanding, and achieve the qualifications they need for further education, employment, and career progression.

My lessons are structured, interactive, and tailored to each learner’s needs. Every session begins with a short review of previous learning, followed by clear, step-by-step teaching of new topics. I then guide learners through worked examples before moving into independent practice to ensure understanding is secure. This approach helps learners build confidence gradually and feel supported throughout their learning.

I use a range of online tools to enhance lessons, including interactive practice questions, visual explanations, and exam-style questions. I set structured homework tasks to reinforce learning between sessions and deliver focused revision sessions to prepare learners effectively for assessments.

A key focus of my teaching is breaking maths down into simple, manageable steps to reduce anxiety and remove barriers to learning. Many learners I support lack confidence in maths, so I create a calm, supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.

I have experience working in Further Education at Bolton College, supporting learners one-to-one and in small groups across Functional Skills Maths and Foundation GCSE Maths. This has strengthened my ability to adapt lessons to different abilities and learning needs.

Above all, I am passionate about helping learners succeed. I take pride in seeing students grow in confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve their maths qualifications, giving them the foundation they need for future success.
