Dear Sir/Madam,
I am Paula Villalba Pérez, a 5th year PhD student researching about British Contemporary Poetry, more especially on the topic ‘Simon Armitage’s Poetic Reception in the United Kingdom’, which is the tile of my thesis I am writing with my supervisors Dr Miguel Teruel Pozas and Dr Miguel Ángel Jordán Enamorado, at the University of Valencia. During my research endeavours, I have also done a research visit at the University of Bristol, where I was under the supervision of Dr William Wootten.
However, I also hold an MSc in Education (Teaching & Learning), which I studied at the University of Bristol (-), the title of my end of Masters dissertation was ‘User Centred Design of an APP for Practicing Spanish Speaking Skills in the Secondary Languages Classroom’.
I also hold a PGCE in Modern Languages Teaching by the University of St Mark and St John (Plymouth-). Such qualifications have enabled me to do research in the area of Education (Social Sciences Research) and Linguistics. My degree is in English Studies (University of Valencia-), with an Erasmus year at Cardiff University (-). My end of degree dissertation is titled ‘Jane Austen’s The History of England a Study and Translation into Spanish’.
Professionally speaking, this academic year, I have started my first year as an Associate Professor at the University of Valencia. In this position, I have taught English Language I, and three groups of English for Business III, experience that I have not only enjoyed but also has allowed me to grow as a professional, and, it enhanced my curiosity to carry further research into the area of Linguistics. Currently, I also work as a self-employed Languages Tutor, mainly focusing in teaching Spanish as a Second Language to British students.
Previously from working at the University of Valencia, I have been a Teacher of Spanish as a Second Language at Bristol Grammar School for five years (-), and also a Teacher of Spanish at Broadlands Academy (Bristol-).
I would be grateful if you could give my application due consideration. It would be fantastic to have the opportunity to contribute to your flourishing research group.
