Advert description
I am of the belief that all students have the ability to build firm understanding in Chemistry with the right approach and mindset. I achieved a 9 at GCSE (AQA) and an A at A-Level (OCR A), by tactical, targeted study strategies and a focused goal.
In an initial, free ‘diagnostic’, I will ascertain the student’s strength and depth of understanding, potential conceptual gaps, and find out a bit about your learning style. I will then create myself a personalised outline of a strategy moving forward, depending on the individual’s goals. This might involve targeted work on specific topics, implementing specific active study methods, or at later stages, building and refining exam technique. As a tutor, I will support the student with this in one-to-one sessions if they wish. I believe length and frequency should be flexible to the individual whilst allowing for balance.
I suggest a baseline of weekly hourly sessions, but this is flexible and can be tailored to the individual’s needs. I am currently available weekdays and weekends from 8 am to 7 pm.
I am flexible across all exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, IGCSE Edexcel).
I switched exam boards a month before my GCSEs, so have first-hand experience of adapting to different question styles and content requirements under time pressure.
I achieved 3 As in my A-levels, with an A in Chemistry and Biology, and 9s in both subjects at GCSE. The content between the sciences overlap more subtly at GCSE, but I believe strong scientific ability sets you up for targeted exam methods so you know exactly what your paper wants on exam day.
