English literature GCSE tutor

I am currently a Master's student in English Literature at the University of Edinburgh, with an undergraduate degree in Sociology from UCLA. I have also worked as a substitute teacher in the San Diego area, teaching all grade levels and subject areas. In addition, I have been a peer tutor in both high school and college.

My experience as a substitute teacher, peer tutor, and master's student in English Literature has given me a deep understanding of the different learning styles and needs of students. I am able to quickly assess a student's strengths and weaknesses, and I develop personalized lesson plans that help them succeed. I am also skilled at differentiating instruction and providing support for students with special needs.

I am passionate about helping students learn and grow, and I am particularly interested in helping them develop the skills they need to perform well on GCSE exams. I believe that all students have the potential to succeed, and I am committed to providing them with the tools and resources they need to reach their full potential.

Here are some specific ways in which I would help students develop the skills they need to perform well on GCSE exams:

Help them develop a deep understanding of the texts they are studying. I would help students to identify and analyze the key themes, characters, and plot points of the texts they are studying. I would also help them to understand the historical and cultural context of the texts.
Teach them how to write effective and insightful essays. I would teach students how to structure their essays effectively, how to use evidence from the texts to support their arguments, and how to write in a clear and concise style. I would also help them to develop their critical thinking skills so that they can analyze and interpret the texts in their own words.
Provide them with feedback on their practice essays. I would review students' practice essays and provide them with feedback on their strengths and weaknesses. I would also help them to identify areas where they need to improve.
Help them to revise for the exams. I would help students to develop a revision plan and to identify the key areas that they need to focus on. I would also provide them with revision materials, such as flashcards and mind maps.
