Advert description
I would describe myself as a calm, supportive and highly experienced mentor who brings 30 years of real-world wisdom and insight to the work I do. My background as a police investigator exposed me to the full range of human experiences, teaching me how to communicate with people from all walks of life, build trust quickly, and help others navigate difficult, complex or stressful situations with clarity and confidence.
Alongside this, I have several years of experience working within alternative learning provisions, supporting young people who struggled in mainstream education, including those with SEND needs or challenging life circumstances. This has shaped my approach to be patient, adaptable and genuinely person-centred. I believe in meeting learners exactly where they are and helping them progress in a way that feels safe, achievable and motivating.
As a tutor, I have taught GCSE and A-Level History online and have worked as an OCR assessor, so I understand not only the subject but also how exam boards think and what students need to succeed. My lessons are structured, friendly and confidence-building, with clear explanations and support tailored to each individual.
