Piano lessons for Key Stage 1 & 2: Tailored music education from an experienced teacher

Hello! I’m Penny, a music educator and Musicology postgraduate currently studying for my MA at the University of Bristol. I have a BA in Music Education from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and I have several years of experience working with children through music education and piano teaching. I have taught piano to students aged 5–18, as well as working as a primary school music teacher. I understand that every student learns differently, so I always adapt my lessons to their age, ability, learning goals and interests. My lessons can include piano technique, music reading, music theory, musical understanding and performance preparation. For students preparing for music examinations or competitions, I can provide structured guidance and help them develop their confidence and performance skills. For beginners, I focus on making lessons clear, enjoyable and encouraging, while helping students build a strong musical foundation. I also have experience directing and rehearsing choirs and creating music activities and creative content for children. Through these experiences, I have developed a patient and supportive teaching style and learned how to make music accessible and enjoyable for young learners. My aim is not only to teach students how to play an instrument, but also to help them understand and enjoy music. I believe that learning music should be a positive and rewarding experience, and I always try to create lessons where students feel comfortable asking questions, making progress and developing their confidence.
