Advert description
I have a PhD in inorganic analytical chemistry with research interests in the synthesis and biosynthesis of natural products. I have extensive laboratory experience and am determined to secure a role in a chemical laboratory, as an experienced professional assisting staff and supporting undergraduate studentsThrough my professional and academic experience, I have developed excellent communication and interpersonal skills. I have experience working in teams to complete projects, collaborative working, and problem-solving and supporting each other. In addition to this, I have developed my communication skills through delivering presentations, writing for publications, and academic research.
I am a highly organised individual with excellent time management skills. I can successfully balance multiple tasks whilst prioritising my workload to ensure that I achieve my set tasks within the required period to a high standard. Whilst working within a laboratory I had to ensure I was adaptable to change and be highly organised to ensure that I facilitated the smooth running within the laboratory.
I can work independently and as part of a team. In my previous role as a Laboratory assistant, I worked with both undergraduate and graduate students and also faculty staff. To be successful in this role being an effective team player was central. This included developing my listening and communication skills, being supportive, and having a helpful nature to take on additional duties for the greater good of the department.
In addition to this whilst studying for my PhD as well as my MSc I participated in group projects and presentations, supporting my group to ensure we achieved our goals. An example of this is when we had to undertake a research project over 6 months; we identified our strengths and how to build on this to complete the research project. I motivated my fellow students, we found solutions together, and I ensured that I undertook my fair share of the workload and communicated effectively.
I understand the importance of confidentiality and how to change communication depending on the target audience. I have experience of this through working in a laboratory working with both faculty staff and students. If an undergraduate student approached me to disclose personal information which was impacting their academic performance.
