I am a patient, hardworking, friendly scholar who would aim at one on one lessons for GCSE and A-level maths

I will teach through first asking the pupil to tell me everything they remember from the topic if it is one they already know to get active recall triggered. Then I will go through an example on my own which I will have prepared showing all the basic skills required in the topic. Then I will go through an example with the pupil asking for their input constantly as I work through it. Finally I will give a multitude of questions for them to work through at a range of skill levels. However my teaching would vary dependent on the student. What I mean by this is if I identify that a student is struggling with a topic or hasn’t learnt it yet I would focus on the basics and core principles of the topic. But if I find the pupil to have strong understanding of the topic I would move on to much higher level questions types which may not have been gone through in lesson to give the pupil a chance to think outside the box and not just face a high volume of basic step by step questions which wouldn’t be asked in an exam. This allows the student to have a specialist who is able to help develop them higher level skills to gain the top grades. For my skills as a teacher, I have coached hockey for 4 years so am adept at explaining a new concept to people or breaking down a complex idea into more digestible pieces. As for academic skills achieving an A* at A-level and an 8 at GCSE for maths shows my understanding of the topic of mathematics and my hardworking attitude that I have towards whatever I do and in this case I will be towards providing high level teaching and range of questions for the student to answer.
