I am a bilingual English and French speaker. I can skillfully aid my students in understanding the complexities of both languages

Advert description
Hello! My name is Thomas and I am a first-year student at the University of Birmingham studying a Joint Honours degree in History and Politics. This, combined with my A Levels in English, History, French and an EPQ, has afforded me the skills and expertise to tutor clients in both English and French to a high degree as I have, and can share, a great understanding of the nuances of the literary and grammatical aspects of both languages.

My sessions will revolve around 2 means of study. The first is GCSE and A-Level tutoring, where I will coach my students through their assigned texts, and teach them how to read critically and write analytically. Should there be a specific area students and I need to target, be it in their ability or understanding of a topic or technique, we will go through it in detail from a foundational level and build upon that over the course of the session.

The second means of study revolves around teaching the language for everyday use outside of academics. Sessions will focus on understanding the language on paper at first, where students will be given extracts of written texts of varying difficulty to translate and perform content analysis. I will teach them how to read and write to a high degree, both formally and informally. Once students have a sufficient grasp of the basics of the written language, we will move on to speaking in conversations of increasing difficulty in conjunction, starting with basic greetings and turns of phrases to full conversations on varying topics.

I understand how hard both English and French can be as languages, and am familiar with how confusing it can be during GCSE's and A Levels to grasp new and complex concepts. It is with this in mind that I would be more than happy to assist my students in any and all areas of difficulty.
