Whether you're a beginner who just wants a confidence boost, or someone with a music background who wants to take your technique up a notch, I'd be so happy to make music with you.
I have taught singing at an Independent Co-Ed Preparatory School, where I had 9 students over a 2 year period. Their ages ranged from 7 to 12. I taught 5 and 14 students respectively at two Independent Girls High Schools, over a 1 and 1,5yr period; ages ranging from 13 to 17/18. I taught 7 boys for a term at another Independent Private Boys Juniour School; ages 7 to 13. I have been teaching inependently for two years now, my online work comprising of a year & counting. I even gained some online students through my social content! Having just moved to Ireland from South Africa, I am predominantly teaching online now with a view to opening an on-site home studio.
In my singing tutoring, I will teach you the principles of healthy vocal technique through nose & body-based breath work, a classical focus on diction, language, and phrasing; music score literacy; & Alexander Technique exercises. Last year, I trained all genders of student at one of the Independent Girls High Schools at which I worked towards ABRSM & Trinity Classical, Musical Theatre & Rock & Pop examinations (Gr 1 to Gr7). We submitted 7 digital grade entries, two of my girls entering for two exams. Results are being released, but my Grade 7 Trinity Classical student achieved a Distinction of 87%.
I am firm but humorous in my approach to music tuition. We will practice passage by passage, never neglect dynamic & tempi markers, & above all focus on tonal production that is vocally sound & will contribute to your vocal longevity. Students who've worked with me will find that their pitching, tonal quality, characterisation, diction, approach & ability to sing high notes, & overall musicianship greatly improves. I am flexible in my approach to repertoire & we will alternate between repertoire chosen by me versus those chosen by the student. Be you a light, lyric, coloratura or dramatic voice; be you a musical theatre, rock & Pop, classical or opera fan; working with me will aid in strengthening & honing your vocal & performative output & your health.
