Advert description
I am a final-year MEng Chemical Engineering student at the University of Bath, with A-Level grades of A in Maths, A in Chemistry and B in Physics, and native-level Spanish. For the past year I have tutored GCSE students in Maths and Science, and I previously worked as an assistant science teacher supporting Years 7 to 9 Chemistry lessons. I also mentor first-year university students at Bath, so I am used to explaining things clearly to people at different stages and adjusting when something isn't landing.
I don't teach the same way with every student. I start by understanding where someone is actually stuck, not just which topic they're revising, and build from there instead of repeating a method that hasn't worked for them before. For Maths and Chemistry, I focus on building a real understanding of why a method works, since that's what makes it stick under exam pressure rather than just memorising steps. For Spanish, I can teach conversationally or work through grammar and exam technique, depending on what the student actually needs. I would rather spend extra time making sure something is properly understood than move on and let gaps build up.
