I teach Spanish through stories and comprehensible input, rather than memorising grammar rules

TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) is a language teaching method that focuses on learning through stories and comprehensible input, rather than memorising grammar rules.

I create a story asking many simple questions to the students:

- "¿El chico quiere ir al restaurante o al cine?" (Does the boy want to go to the restaurant or to the cinema?)

- "¿Tiene mucho dinero o no tiene dinero?" (Does he have a lot of money or no money?)

Students answer with single words or short phrases, staying within their comfort zone.

The key aspects that make TPRS different from traditional methods:

- Students are not forced to speak until they feel ready.

- Everything is made 100% comprehensible through gestures, translations, and simple questions.

- The same structures are repeated many times in different contexts.

- The focus is on understanding and engaging with the story, not on grammar rules.
