Teacher of Written and Practical Art and Design for BGE and SQA National/ Higher Qualifications

I am currently teaching full time in one of the Academy’s in the city, moving from Fife to Aberdeen just before lockdown I have experienced online teaching, this has helped to develop the curriculum within the Art department.
This year I have just finished teaching 2 National 5 classes and with staff absence I had the responsibility of single handily completing the Higher course in time to wrap and send all units to SQA, this was a massive responsibility to ensure everything was prepared and organised within time to be sent away. I’m also excited this year to be part of the SQA marking which will happen at the end of the month. I will be taking part of the Design unit and the written work which is not only great CPD but I will take back all the experience and embed it into my work next year. I have been working as a full time teacher for 5years, 3 years at my current school where I have been helping to develop the curriculum within my faculty, teaching in front of BGE &senior phase. In doing so I am required to create lesson plans and units of work that will engage our current cohort, the majority of lessons in Art include me demonstrating lessons in front of pupils, providing structured lesson plans which meet the benchmarks, providing scaffolded lessons to support the various ASN needs of the pupils, working with behaviour management skills to avoid distractions and ultimately tracking/monitoring their development as the year progresses, I find it helps to share their progress at each step, to allow pupils to see their progress and understand their next steps. This year I have to track a range of year groups and subjects from BGE to Higher qualifications.
