For my teaching style I usually will initially outline the weaknesses of the students as it varies between various students.
After highlighting the weaknesses, they will therefore be targeted in our lessons specifically through writing essays, model paragraphs which I will initially do myself with the help of the student and then ask the student to try replicate my writing themselves.
Prior to actual essay writing, I will make sure the student is confident with the actual content required for these essays through techniques like active recall and providing them high quality content sheets they can use to include in their writing as well as some sample essays they can take inspiration from.
I will also give them compulsory homework which includes writing essays or paragraphs to prepare for our next lesson which I will then give them comprehensive feedback for.
In order to make my students feel confident walking into their English exams, I will expose them to complex techniques such as adding nuance to their essays and introducing them to new pieces of contextual evidence and improve the sophistication in their writing skills which will help them become top level students who can achieve maximum grades.
Each lesson will be catered towards a different weakness that needs to be targeted and if the student still struggles to tackle their weaknesses, then the following lesson will target it using a different method.
In my lessons, I will be covering content that is seen in exam boards including: AQA and OCR English Literature for GCSE and A Level.
