I prefer to be constantly testing my students, which ensures active recall is occurring constantly and so that they are being pushed outside of their comfort zone. Active recall is the best revision method for retaining knowledge and of course these are usually to solidify anything teachings or discussions occurring before the testing period during the lesson. This approach has been learned through my experience of tutoring ages 7-18 from being 16 myself to current date.
